Retired Navy Captain Mike Kohler, a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years, has filed to seek election as District 2’s representative on the Escambia County (Fla.) Commission.  Locally, he’s has been immersed in community service and volunteerism throughout Escambia County for years.  He is currently the Vice Chairman on the Escambia County Health Facility Authority ECHFA.  The authority since 1975 has approved and issued over $1.4 billion in revenue or refunding bonds to projects at 12 different health care organizations in the county.   Among some of the non-profits assisted from the ECHFA were Gulf Coast Kids House, Hope and Health Clinic, Century Medical Clinic, Escambia Westgate School’s Snoezelen Polar room, and the Pace Center for Girls.
